Where Have You Been All My Life?

I mean YOU, exciting new Halloween candy! Like the Halloween Whoppers in black and orange...

MMmmm... malt-y goodness...

Peeps Spooky Cats...

They look like l'il kitties! O, joy!

and, oh my God, Tootsie Pops in spooky shapes!

Behold their chocolatey majesty.

Of course, none of these can appear on my annual classic Halloween candy list, being as they are, you know, new, and thus pretty much by definition not classic. Although, perhaps they can get notations. We’ll see.

Thanks everso to Matt at X-E for reviewing these and reprising his completely awesome annual Halloween Countdown. As Fall is my favourite season and Halloween my favourite holiday, I’m all a-twitter!

BTW, if any of you love me, you will buy and send me some these candy items. Also, you will leave me comments. I’m feeling a little down and whorish today.

The most depressing Halloween candy-related item I have to share: I recently uncovered an unopened bag of candy corn that I purchased on mega-clearance shortly after Halloween last year in one of the kitchen cupboards. What a tragedy that those poor candy corn languished, uneaten, for almost an entire year! *gasp, faint* (I also found some Valentine's Day colored Hershey's kisses and some leftover Easter-packaged Snickers bars, so basically we're just completely slacking in the Eating Sugary Treats category here at the Smith homestead.)

I swear I've seen Peeps bats for Halloween too, but that could just be bad intel from the voices in my head...

Personally I know in my heart that all those food dyes are totally safe to eat in huge quantities. In fact my favorites are the black peeps -- the food dye must be the first item on the ingredients list. Just remember whatever color it leaves on your tongue, your liver turns the same color.

Hey... things got hard to read here... what happened to the background.... I feel scared and lost... everything is so dark and purple...

Peeps are the bane of the candy world, but i'll take some of those Tootsie Pops - those look really cool. :)

Also: don't you just love X-E?

Thanks for the comments, y'all! They're better for PMS than Premsyn!

FN: I never did get the Oreos, as entire bags of them are verboten in chez Mrs. Nator. Tyrant!

And it was there, but kinda late, so we both win.

Heather: I'll beatcha on that. We once had a half bag of candy corn (Brach's! The best kind!) stuffed in a cabinet for around 4 or 5 years. I think as one grows older and busier, one a) loses the childhood stomach and taste for massive doses of sugar and b) gives up on consistent cleaning. Even though we knew those kernels were hard and deadly, none of us - and this means going from when my ex-roomie bought them to several years into Mrs. Nator's residence - could stand the awful thought that they'd been wasted.

P.S.: Have you tried candy corn mixed with salted peanuts? Deeee-licious!

Ken: Heh. Hey, if my liver's black it'll at least match my lungs, after being a smoker lo those many years.

Last but not least, Claire: What? Wha happa? Last I checked, my background files were working. Are you still having trouble?

Peeps are really best when you nuke them, watching as they explode, then eat them as they're turning a peculiar glazed-taffy consistency. Trust me.

And yes, X-E is the bomb! I just love the cultural references, even though sometimes I feel like a geezer when they clearly place him as younger than me. I can hardly wait for Lego advent calendar!

Cheers, y'all.

One Easter, a bunch of friends and I made St. Sebastian Peeps--microwave with a bunch of toothpicks sticking in them, add red food coloring aftre they're gooey. You can't really crucify them, so we thought that was the next best alternative.

Dope and I have tickets to see a preview performance of Evil Dead the Musical the weekend before Halloween. I can't wait!

{Oh, and the light text background is not there for me either.}

For some reason, on my work computer the white stripey down the middle wasn't there. I can see it on my home computer, so who knows. I'll check in tomorrow to see if it was just me..which it probably was anyway.

Any of these things would definitely make me break my no sugar credo, so I'll buy them and send them to you!

Big hugs darlin' hope things are getting better for ya'!

Regarding the sometimes weird and spooky look of the page...about every other time I sign on the the sidebar is no longer on the right and easy to read but on the left overlapping the column of text and very hard to read with the background blending in. Is it somekind of toggle glitch? I'm not very technical about web stuff but it is strange.
